Both the US and Canadian Halls have character clauses in their nomination and induction standards and have it within their right to remove individuals who have not been exemplary in their workd in the industry. ILuvTurfRacing · Owner Ahmed Zyat has removed all of the horses he had in training with Asmussen because of excerpts that he said he saw from the PETA video. PETA claims Asmussen was administering drugs for non-therapeutic reasons and employing a jockey to use a banned electric device known as a buzzer on some of the horses in Asmussen's care. most of you are familiar with me somewhat. i am a veterinarian. i love animals. what i don't like is one-sided reporting with sensationalism as a selling point. I severely dislike PETA. there are numerous reasons (one of many is that they euthanize a large number of pets they take into their shelter when there are many no kill options)....but i digress. horse racing is not a spotless sport. there is a darkside. but PETA will purposely use low society individuals to get footage they can edit to make a headline. i am disgusted. the racing industry is hurting, but this article is making things even worse. bravo PETA.

buckpasser · One of the reason heads rolled in the Walking Horse scandal was that Pepsi, their major corporate backer pulled out and heads had to roll or the walking horse show circuit etc. would fold. It will be interesting to see if corporate sponsors start pushing back on racing. · 2499 days ago

According to statistics provided by Equibase Company, trainer Steve Asmussen is currently two wins away from surpassing Hall of Fame trainer Jack Van Berg, who is currently ranked second on the all-time North American (US and Canada) Thoroughbred trainer’s list by number of wins. Through racing yesterday, March 27, Van Berg was ranked second with 6,417 wins and Asmussen was ranked third with 6,416 wins. Asmussen has seven starts scheduled for today, five at Fair Grounds, one at Aqueduct and one at Oaklawn Park. Van Berg has one start scheduled for today at Santa Anita.
