Kentucky Derby Future Wager: Sittin on Go, King Fury in action

The Kentucky Derby Future Wager’s first pool will see several of its available horses running Saturday in the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) at Churchill Downs, a points-paying Kentucky Derby prep.

Sittin On Go, trained by Dale Romans will run in the race and is 5-1 on the morning line. He currently sits at 63-1 in the KDFW odds, and had taken in $1,175 as of 11:30 a.m. Eastern on Friday.

The Kentucky Jockey Club favorite, Keepmeinmind, 6-5 odds on the morning line, is also a part of Pool 1. He was sitting at 23-1 having brought in $3,088 in wagers.

Trainer Ken McPeek’s King Fury is 6-1 on the Kentucky Jockey Club morning line. He was 52-1 odds in the KDFW and has taken in $1,433.

The shortest odds in the KDFW continued to be all other 3-year-old males at 3-2 odds after opening at 6-5 on the morning line.

The top individual betting choice continued to be the Bob Baffert-trained Life Is Good, who was 4-1 odds with $14,071 in wagers.

After the day of betting in the KDFW, a total of $89,347 was bet in the win pool and $26,916 in the exacta for a total handle of $116,263, up from the day one total of $67,831. Last year’s total handle closed at $258,389 after all four days of wagering.

Also being offered currently is the Kentucky Derby Future Sire Wager, for which the top of the leaderboard remains unchanged, with Into Mischief at 9-2.

The sire of Kentucky Derby winner Authentic had taken $1,919 in wagers. 

The all other sires option remains as the second choice at 7-1 with $1,377 wagered. Tapit was also at 7-1. 

The win handle for the sires wager after two days was $11,773 and the exacta handle was $4,886 for a total handle of $16,659.

The largest amount of money for both pools is expected to come in shortly before 6 p.m. on Sunday, when they close.
