Better Keep Clairiere on your Oaks watch list. This Curlin filly out of the great race mare Cavorting mows the field down at first asking at Churchill race 6 today. The TVG guys bet against her as a first time starter and when she crossed the wire they were saying WOW Ready to place a future on her for the Oaks. Can someone create a page for her
Yay, she won ! She was green as grass early on, but made a beautiful, extended run - while very wide - and relentlessly closed, winning going away. I’m so happy because I adore her dam, whose injury just before the BC was crushing - Cavorting was a tremendous filly. Curlin/Bernardini is a fantastic cross.
Cavorting's first foal is a winner! Clairiere closes from a slow pace and wins nicely. Great debut and hopefully a bright future!
Clairiere - That was a very solid effort for this filly to get up and win going 1 1/16 miles in her first race. The experienced leader was stubborn and appeared to be on to victory. This filly battled another horse in the stretch before pulling away to collar the leader near the wire. It's not often you see a Steve A filly debut at 1 1/16 miles. However, this beautifully bred filly might have a promising future.

If Battleground comes over from Ireland for the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf, I believe he wins, simple as that. He's shown some serious ability and talent in both his Royal-Ascot win in the Chesham Stakes and in his win at Goodwood in the Vintage Stakes. My only hesitancy about thinking he'll be in the race is that in recent years at least, Aidan O'Brien has rarely, if ever, sent over any of his juvenile colts that he considered to be at or near the very top of his pecking order at Ballydoyle. Frankly, he hasn't had too, I.E., Wrote in 2011, George Vancouver in 2012, Hit It A Bomb in 2015, and Mendelssohn in 2017. All were decent horses were nowhere near the best among his juvenile ranks in any of those seasons, or that O'Brien would send out the next season as 3YO for the top European turf races. That's not the case here with Battleground. He's one of, if not the best juvenile colt that O'Brien has in his yard at the moment in Ireland in my humble opinion.
For a colt to win a G1 named after his sire is fantastic and, well, cracking awesome. His front running time in the last win was blistering, with Will Take Charge right behind.
Improbable with another awesome work this morning. 7f in 1.25:00(bullet).
Another excellent work from Max this morning. 5f in 59:80(bullet). Can’t wait to see him in The Classic.
  • slewcrew7778 via Disqus · Found this thought on Twitter that's been mine as well. We'll soon see! "I would not be surprised if MAXIMUM SECURITY was purposely short for the Awesome Again, using it as a proper preparation for the horrible work horse’s Classic hurrah and allowing IMPROBABLE’s connections a bit of marketable pre-stud glory." · 1 hour ago
Per DRF Privman this A.M., Spielberg will not be entered in the BCJ. He will race next against maidens during the Del Mar meet according to Baffert.

WTF with this rankings? Nothing against Ivar, he is a good horse, but good enough to put him above big names in the USA and in the world like Monomoy Girl, Max, Improbable, Swiss Skydiver and Tiz the Law? I know in this rankings fans vote for their favorite horses or the ones they like but supposedly you have to vote with your head, right?

  • MacKenzee Hansen via Disqus · I love that he is back and doing well I just hope they take time with him, which i shouldn’t worry about since I’m sure they will. I’m more worried about another injury happening but just because I don’t want anything really really bad to happen to him. Such a beautiful horse he is! · 1 hour ago

Well on a completely different note, I now know of one of the first -if not the first - Honor Code mares in foal. A poster on another board said that a farm had given away an HC filly to the friend because the filly has poor confirmation and wasn’t considered good enough for the farm’s broodmare band. Her name is Carol’s Dream. It seems she’s in much better hands with this poster’s friend, since the friend intends to put screws in the resulting foal if it also has poor confirmation - which friend thinks should have been done to Carol’s Dream when she was a foal. The mare is in foal to Laoban, which is a lovely cross.
  • perimeister via Disqus · Do you know what Carol’s Dream’s conformation issue(s) is? She comes from a good racemare by Candy Ride, so she may have a good chance at having fairly correct foals who can run, better if her conformation issue was just a product of the pregnancy or birthing. Screws can’t fix everything, even enough to allow a horse to train, and of course won’t produce an inheritable result. Adding Laoban into the mix could be interesting. I wonder if we can find a photo or video of Carol’s Dream? · 2 hours ago
Magical and Mogul will represent Coolmore in the turf. If Magical wins she will become Coolmore’s most successful horse with 8 group 1 wins. I believe she would also become the top earner (or just behind Highland Reel)
